How do I find it in the Bible?

The Table of Contents is the best place to start when you're looking for something in the Bible. It lists the 'books' (the Bible is divided into 66 'books' that were written by dozens of authors over thousands of years). Once you locate the page number the book starts on you can then navigate by chapter number and verse number to locate a specific reference.

For example consider this scripture reference:

John 3:16

John is the 'Book' name
3 is the chapter number
16 is the verse number

the ':' symbol means that we're shifting from the chapter number to a verse within that chapter.

Hope this is helpful as you get started.

  1. Hey, why are they called books? It looks to me like it is one book.
